Baymax Mission: Cool Down - Tokyo Disneyland’s Seasonal Summer Experience

Any Disney parks fan knows that seasonal park experiences are so much fun! Whether you’re a fan of visiting during Halloween time or Christmas (Halloween is my personal favorite), there’s always something extra special about seeing the park decked out in unique decor or offering limited time treats.

At California’s Disneyland, summer is actually a bit of a lull when it comes to seasonal celebrations. This year we had the Disneyland 70th celebration, and we also had some sprinklings of Pixar Fest, but the peak summer season doesn’t really have a nice fun celebratory season.

Enter: Tokyo Disneyland. Tokyo Disneyland’s summer season this year revolves around Baymax and his mission to keep guests cool while they enjoy the park! What a fun theme! The season was complete with a special parade, seasonal merchandise, and of course seasonal treats!

Tokyo Disney loves Baymax, and so do I, so this was a really fun experience to have when visiting this summer!

This event is exclusive to Tokyo Disneyland since the Baymax activities are only at this park and not at Tokyo DisneySea. And the summer season runs until September 15, 2025, so there’s still some time to catch it!

Seasonal Parade - Mission: Cool Down

This is a really cool and fun seasonal parade that travels through the park 3 times a day during the season. It’s pretty much just a single float that has a giant Baymax in this lab-type setting. But what’s really cool about it is that it sprays water all along its route!

There’s really fun upbeat music (by Mrs. GREEN APPLE) and water sprays in time with the music. The float periodically pauses and sprays extra water into the crowd, literally soaking guests that are in the splash zone (soak zone?).

It’s a super fun and cute little parade! If you don’t mind getting wet, it can be a lot of fun! Some guests love it so much I literally saw them follow the float so they could continue to experience the waterworks!

Seasonal Foods

Baymax shaved ice

Put Baymax on anything and I’ll want it! The shaved ice dessert is so nice and refreshing, and just adding a little Baymax mochi on top makes it extra special!

This treat is available and different food locations throughout Tokyo Disneyland, and the flavors vary by location as well. I tried the strawberry flavor and the blue & mango flavor. I really enjoyed the little fruit bits at the bottom, and the syrup was flavorful as well even though at first it didn’t seem like they added enough of it. I enjoyed the Baymax mochi which had a custard filling!

The ice is more on the coarse side so it’s not as soft and light as kakigori, but it’s still a nice refreshing treat!

The regular shaved ice with the Baymax mochi was 600 yen, but at certain locations you can also get it with ice cream for 800 yen.

Baymax ‘cool down’ udon

This udon dish was available at Plaza Pavilion for 800 yen. It’s a full cup of chilled udon noodles with beef, topped with green onion, tempura crisps, a cute heart-shaped sweet potato cake-type thing, and a Baymax shaped poached egg.

I would say the portion on this was quite large, at least more than I was expecting. I thought it’d be a little treat, but it ended up feeling like a small meal for me. They were generous with the noodles and there was also a decent amount of beef and sauce at the bottom. It does require pretty thorough mixing though if you want to get the noodles coated well. The cup isn’t the best form factor for that, but it’s great for portability and is easy to carry around.

The poached egg was cooked perfectly, and there was so much flavor in the whole dish that I really enjoyed it.

Seasonal Merchandise

You can’t have a seasonal experience without limited-time merchandise!

Apparel & Souvenirs

This Baymax-centered season came with new Baymax-themed shirts, plush charm mystery boxes, and other accessories like bags, headbands, and more! A lot of the theming this time around was very neon-centered and they were quite cute!

Of course, they also continued to have their mainstead Baymax merchandise like the headbands and sunglasses as well. As a Baymax fan, I loved getting decked out in all things Baymax!

Capsule Toys

Having been to Tokyo Disney resort a few times now, I’m now accustomed to checking out the capsule toy machines as a top priority whenever I enter a park.

Typically when there’s a fun seasonal set, you’ll only be able to get them by signing up for a standby pass, so as soon as you get scanned into the park, check the standby passes to see if there are any capsule toy time slots to reserve.

Without even knowing what it was, I saw that there were reservations required, so I booked them as soon as possible, and I’m so glad I did! This season’s capsule toys were Baymaxes!!

There were 4 different versions that you could get, each one showcasing Baymax doing a different sport: sumo, basketball, swimming, or baseball. They were all so adorable and I really wanted to get them all!

For each person who gets a reservation, you can get up to a maximum of 4 capsule toys which are 500 yen each. You do need cash, so make sure you have 1000 yen bills with you so that you can exchange them for 100 yen coins at the coin machine.

These capsule toys were SO cute!! And somehow I was actually lucky enough to get all 4 of them! That never happens!! To be fair, we did have to use all 8 tries total among two people in order to get the 4 unique ones. But it was so worth it because we got exactly what we wanted!

If you’re a Baymax fan you’ll LOVE being in Tokyo Disneyland during the summer season! There’s so much fun Baymax things to enjoy from the foods to the merchandise! I’m not sure if they bring this back every summer, but I sure hope they do because it’s a really fun and cute way to spend the summer!
